Best Dentist in Solano County, seven years running. Dr. Bruce Bosler does his utmost to put all of his patients — from the youngest to the oldest — at ease during their visit. Our dentist and team are pleased to offer oral sedation to ensure our patients have a comfortable and stress-free dental experience. Whether you are in need of a routine dental cleaning, need treatment to repair a broken tooth or wish to whiten your teeth, sedation dentistry with Dr. Bosler can help you regain a healthy and beautiful smile with no pain or discomfort.

Who Can Benefit From Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry can benefit patients who have:

  • Fear of the dentist (dental phobia) or anxiety about receiving dental treatment
  • A strong gag reflex
  • Difficulty relaxing or sitting still in the dentist’s chair
  • A low pain tolerance

Sedation dentistry can be used for virtually any dental procedure — from routine cleanings to dental implant placement and oral surgery. Before administering sedation, Dr. Bosler will review your medical history in order to determine if you are a suitable candidate for sedation dentistry.

What is Oral Sedation?

Oral sedation is administered through a small pill that patients will need to take before their procedure (typically the night before). Patients will need to have a loved one drive them to our office the day of the procedure. Because oral sedation does not relieve pain, a local anesthetic may be administered before your treatment in order to minimize discomfort. Dr. Bosler or a member of our trusted team will be present during every step of your procedure in order to monitor your safety and comfort. During your treatment, you will be able to respond to our team’s questions and requests.

Oral sedation will put you in a dreamlike, relaxed state. In fact, some of our patients have likened the feeling of being under oral sedation to being on vacation on a remote and peaceful island. The effects of the pill can take up to 24 hours to wear off, so you will need to have someone drive you home after treatment, where we recommend you take a soothing and relaxing nap. Once you are fully awake, you will have little, if any, memory about your procedure. What you will notice, however, are the changes to your smile!
